Rams will receiver visits of draft quarterbacks

With the first overall draft pick in hand, the St. Louis Rams is getting prepared for the April 22nd draft picking. As a preliminary collection of the possible best rookies’ information, they are going to host two college quarterbacks this week. The two are the No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford and No. 13 overall pick Colt McCoy.

According to reports from the NFL.com, Bradford from Oklahoma will best the first to make the visit. He is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday and stay until Wednesday, and the next day the Rams are scheduled to receiver visit of Texas’ McCoy, who will stay until Thursday. Each quarterback has his own advantages and disadvantages. Bradford has ideal height and good mobility and won the Heisman Trophy as a redshirt sophomore in 2008, but he is just coming off a shoulder injury on his throwing arm and in need of adding weight to withstand the pounding in professional games. By comparison, McCoy has less strength with his arm. He is accurate in short passing game but needs to improve the accuracy in long passes down the field and toward the sideline. However, McCoy is a natural leader with high character and can control the game with his intelligence.

As the Rams released veteran quarterback Marc Bulger earlier this month, they seem determined to get a best replacement from the draft, and by so far it seems that Bradford is more likely to have the chance of putting on Rams jersey as the No. 1 overall quarterback, but McCoy is also having big chance as he gave pretty good impression to the team during last week’s private workout with the Rams.

Talk show host Limbaugh and NHL owner Checketts plan to buy Rams

Although the St. Louis Rams is off to a 0-4 start in the National Football League season with a league-low 24 points and has lost 14 games in streak over two seasons, the team still has an estimated value of 929 million dollars. Both Conservative political radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh and National Hockey League club owner Dave Checketts are on a bid to buy the American football team.

After former owner Georgia Frontiere, who moved the Rams to her hometown, died last year, her children shared the Rams with billionaire Stan Kroenke, who also owns the NHL Colorado Avalance and NBA Denver Nuggets.

According to NFL rules, owner of other sport teams can own an NFL team in the same market as long as the owner does not own team in other markets, and that is why Kroenke can only held 40 percent of the Rams. Checkets would be able to take a majority stake because his Blues are based in St. Louis and the cross-ownership policy has not applied to soccer teams. What is more, if Checketts is to own the Rams, St. Louis fans who love rams jerseys all the same despite the losses, could stop worrying that the Rams could leave for Los Angeles, which is the Rams’ birthplace and has no NFL team now.

Two key starters of Rams to miss games with injuries

Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins was a big loss to the St. Louis Rams, they did not only lost the game by 7-9, but also had to face the loss of two key starters: center Jason Brown and rookie tackle Jason Smith.

Brown was formerly wearing ravens jersey and cost the Rams a lot to acquire him. He was battling a sprained MCL in his knee and may need to miss a few weeks. Smith also sprained his knee and his status for this week’s home opener against the Green Bay Packers was still uncertain.

However, even if the Rams still have the two starters playing at their position, few people would believe that they could manage to win, except for the game against the Detroit Lions in Week 8.

Rams QB Bulger will be about for about two weeks with fractured finger

St. Louis Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said Monday that quarterback Marc Bulger will not be available for Friday’s preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons. The fractured will probably keep him out for 2 weeks.

The 32-year-old veteran quarterback jammed his pinkie finger of the throwing hand during Monday's practice and X-ray showed that it was fractured. The finger has been taped and will be immobilized for about two weeks. That means Bulger will probably also miss the Aug. 27 game at Cincinnati.

During the time while Bulger is out, the team will likely take Kyle Boller as the starting quarterback. Boller hurt his shoulder last season spent all of the season on injured reserve with the Baltimore Ravens. He was signed by the Rams in April to be Bulger's backup.
